Ibuprofen for backache
Clinical trials show that ibuprofen, at a dose of 400 mg three times daily, relieves pain and reduces the restriction on movement associated with lower back pain. Improvement has been demonstrated within 3 days of beginning treatment, with one study reporting return to normal activities after a median of 6 days.

Symptoms of Backache
Acute pain affecting the lower back is a common problem that many people treat by self-medication. Lower back pain (lumbago) arises in the fibrous connective tissue of the back muscles, ligaments and tendons; causes include poor posture or lifting heavy objects. The pain can be severe and disabling but, for many people, the best course of action is to carry on with normal activities and relieve the pain when necessary with an over-the-counter analgesic.

Sciatica arises from pressure on the sciatic nerve secondary to a prolapsed intervertebral disc (slipped disc). In such cases, medical advice may be necessary.
