  Summary of clinical trial of ibuprofen in the treatment of cold symptoms

The therapeutic effectiveness of ibuprofen on the symptoms of naturally acquired common colds

Study design
Ibuprofen (400 mg three times daily) was compared with placebo in 80 adults with common cold.

This study was placebo-controlled

Summary of results
Ibuprofen significantly reduced headache, earache, muscle and joint pain, and fever. The number of sneezes was reduced by 40% and sneezing symptom score was reduced by 33%.
